Chelsie’s Professional Goals.

  1. Present current research a professional conference

    a. Chelsie is exploring the effects of prune serum on cellular models of bone cancer. She will present her research at a professional conference in Fall 2022.

  2. Earn a Dietetic Technician Registered (DTR) Certification

    a. Upon graduating from San Diego State University in Spring 2023, Chelsie will take the DTR exam.

    b. She will earn this credential to expand her knowledge and gain more experience within the dietetic field.

  3. Complete a PhD program in Nutritional Biochemistry at Boston University by 2028-2029

    a. Chelsie will further her education by enrolling in a PhD program following her undergraduate degree in Nutrition with a minor in Chemistry.

    b. This program offers a blend of biochemistry and nutrition courses with an opportunity to learn from a mentor in Chelsie’s area of focus. Her experience in this program will help refine her skills and find a more specific project for her thesis.

  4. Complete a Postdoc at an international institution

    a. Chelsie will seek an interesting project containing her areas of expertise once she defends her PhD.

    b. This program will aid Chelsie in finding her niche within the research community as well as provide her valuable experience mentoring student researchers.

  5. Begin research and teaching at a university

    a. After completing her postdoc, Chelsie will become a professor at a university. This position will include conducting research and beginning her work as a mentor. 

  6. Earn a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Credential

    a. Once Chelsie establishes herself as a professor of nutrition and biochemistry, she will complete the Registered Dietitian exam and earn her credential.

    b. She will use this credential to expand her opportunities for funding, gain more credibility among her colleagues, and continue building her knowledge base as a nutrition professional.
